The Tragedy of Omayra Sanchez

On November 13th, 1985, Nevado del Ruiz volcano at Colombia was erupted. It was regarded then as the second worst volcano disaster of the twentieth century because of the vast number of people that vanish. The small town of Armero where the location near Nevado del Ruiz Volcano have the hardest hit where three quarters of its population, 23,000 out of 28,700, died in the flood. The cause of the disaster is the overflow of the flood that consume nearby settlements. Not just than the typical rain of ash and fire, the eruption caused far more problems than it, the melted snow and ice. It flows through Azufrado, and Gauli rivers. The melting of the mountaintop snows showed the result of the incredible heat. Nevado del Ruiz volcano ever erupted in 1595 and killed so many victims of Spanish colonists by the hundreds twice in the last half millennium. Considering this, Armero residents should rethink where to build a much better town.

One of the victim of Nevado del Ruiz volcano eruption disaster known is Omayra Sanchez. Omayra Sanchez is a thirteen year old girl who trapped in the mud following the eruption. Omayra suffered the most tragic of many deaths that caused by Nevado del Ruiz volcano eruption. This little girl trapped in the mud eruption flows. She found trapped in debris transported by the mud. The tolls that use to help the victims and clear the debris that is crane and hydraulic pump didn?t arrive in time. And, for two full days and three nights, rescue workers tried to free her. Omarya?s hips had been injured by metal bars and her body was trapped at the mud. She was exhausted and despite her impressive faith and calm, then she died of a heart attack on 16 November 1985, three days after the eruption disasters.
